Learn how to make one of the trendiest styles of 2021 this Christmas. I’m celebrating advent with this minimalist line art nativity sign. This design can easily be repurposed for printouts, ornaments and more! (The full video on the process is linked at the end of this post)

Here are the Materials You Will Need for this Design:
- Frame (I found mine at Hobby Lobby.)
- Nativity Line Art Design – (Designed by my friend, Caroline)
- Opaque Black Acrylic – (from Cerulean Tides)
- 3M 467MP Clear Adhesive Transfer Tape– from Amazon
PREPARING THE DESIGN
First, I set up the Nativity scene in Glowforge to get an idea of the size of the design so I did not use too much 3M adhesive. I made the size of the design 10.5 x 7.75 inches.
Once the size of the nativity scene was set up in Glowforge, I began to prep the material. For this design I used Opaque Black Acrylic from Cerulean Tides. You can get 10% off your order over $100 when you use the code POTTSPERFECT10.
To set up the 3M on the acrylic, I peeled off the paper masking and applied just enough 3M adhesive to the acrylic to avoid wasting material.
SETTING UP THE DESIGN IN THE GLOWFORGE SOFTWARE
I began by choosing my base cut settings by selecting a setting I’ve pre-programmed into my Glowforge software.
Cut Settings (I recommend clicking the save icon to keep these settings):
- 120 Speed
- Full Power
Before you begin cutting, I recommend that you do a test cut. For more details you can watch my YouTube video below.
Since I cut the design with the 3M facing up, I made sure to mirror the design horizontally.
APPLYING THE DESIGN TO THE FRAME
PRO TIP: Before I placed the design on the frame, I made sure to wipe the design with baby wipes. Sometimes when you cut designs with paper masking at a slower speed, the paper masking can become charred. I did this extra step to avoid getting any of the charring on the design.
Finally, I removed the 3M, applied the design, and then removed the paper masking
The Final Product
I am so happy with how this Minimalist Nativity scene turned out! You can find this file that my friend Caroline designed on my website: Nativity Line Art SVG.
