Gender reveals tend to be hit or miss. Some people love them, while others think they’re tacky. Me, I love a party for anything. Nick and I are both very social people and hold our close friends and family dear to our hearts. After years of infertility, every moment of this pregnancy has felt like something to celebrate. When it was time to find out the gender of Baby Potts (or Sweet P as I referred to our little one the first couple months), we wanted nothing more than to have a big celebration to find out together.

Since we only have a couple months of pleasant outdoor weather in Florida, we held the reveal at a local park with an open field and a playground for the kiddos. To be honest, I was still in my creative funk so there were no Glowforge or crafted decorations. We chose to have the decor be focused on blue and pink food and a balloon arch. My friends know I love a good balloon arch!
I’ve linked some of the decor used for this and my baby shower in my Amazon storefront here!

the big reveal!
There’s lots of fun ways to make the big gender reveal like cakes, balloons, smoke and more. For us, we loved the look of confetti. It really made it feel like a celebration! Some cannons also include a powder, but from what I’ve seen online, they can get messy, so we had a friend order the confetti ones only.
Our reveal was something we wanted to celebrate with everyone, so we posed our guest behind us for the big reveal. It was great to feel surrounded by so much love, but we also have photos of their genuine reactions as well! Our photographer posed us with a cannon for each of us, and two were also placed in the crowd to create a nice full look.
We counted down and let the confetti fly to find out…
baby potts is a girl!

Now, of course I am happy with a child, but I am so excited to (hopefully) have a mini-me to match and make all the cute crafts for! Our gender reveal was such a special time we had with friends and family and it still puts a huge smile on my face to remember that moment.
Nick and I walked through infertility for years before the Lord finally blessed us with a child. There were days where the hope started to fade and I wondered if carrying a biological child was going to be for us. We’re thankful we have been given this opportunity, and because of those dark years our gender reveal and celebrations like this feel so bright and full of love.
Thank you for following along with out parenthood journey! Don’t forget I will be linking all updates and projects on my main Baby Potts page here!
Here are some of my favorite photos from the gender reveal. If you are local to Sarasota/Bradenton, check out Sammi B Photography!
